5 Common First-Time Home Buyer Mistakes

Buying a home is probably the largest investment most people will make in their lifetime.  Here are five common mistakes first time home buyers make.

1. They don't ask enough questions of their lender and end up missing out on the best deal.

2. They don’t act quickly enough to make a decision and someone else buys the house. There are more buyers than there are sellers.  Homes are selling quickly in this market.

3. They don't find the right agent who’s willing to help them through the home buying process.   Find an agent who has what I like to call the "teaching spirit".  One who will explain the process every step of the way.

4. They don't do enough to make their offer look appealing to a seller. There are too many buyers out there for a seller to choose from, if you really like the house and want to purchase it, don't sabotage the deal by asking for the seller's to include the moon in the purchase price of the home.

5. They don't think about resale before they buy. The average first-time buyer only stays in a home for four years. Eventually you will want to sell your property.
